Reading onto Tape/CD
Audio recordings are often produced on cassette tape since blind and visually impaired people frequently rely upon cassette-based publications and in the past were most likely to have access to audio cassette players. Atlas Translations is also able to produce recordings on CD and in MP3 format, which can be played on home equipment and on computers. CDs and multimedia file formats are likely to become increasingly popular as audio tape technology is phased out. Please contact us if you require any other format.
All prices for our Reading onto Tape and CD service are subject to the
complexity of the document. All documents need to be seen before the
price is confirmed. Complex text affects the cost of our Reading onto Tape and CD service and so we will need to view non-text items such
as tables, graphs, mathematical formulae, diagrams and pictures before
we are able to provide a quotation.
We calculate our rates according to the number of pages and the complexity
of the text. If you have a hard copy of the disk
or CD version of the text, this is very helpful. Our Reading onto Tape and CD service includes the transcription of diagrams and pictures as
appropriate. Atlas Translations offers indexing including time indexing
on tape, so that blind and visually impaired people are able to find
information fast. We can also provide (upon request) presentation cases
for multiple tapes and CDs.
Case Study
London-based Atlas Translations regularly supplies a reading onto CD service
for the blind and partially sighted customers of a building society. Documents
that are transferred to CD (and sometimes tape) are product brochures, letters
to the client and statements.
