Simultaneous Interpreting
London-based Atlas Translations can help with all types of interpreting.
Simultaneous interpreting is when the interpreter's verbal translation is delivered at almost the same time as the original speaker, with only a minimal delay while the interpreter digests the meaning of the speakers words. Simultaneous interpreting is the favoured technique for all formal meetings, since it virtually eliminates time lag. It does, however, require the highest level of interpreting skill, combined with the use of equipment.
Normally, the simultaneous interpreters sit in a booth and both listen and speak at the same time, interpreting as they go along. By using audio equipment (microphones, headphones, etc), an entire conference attended by delegates from many different countries, speaking a multitude of languages, can understand one speaker at the same time.
We can also supply a full range of simultaneous interpreting and conference equipment along with an experienced technician to be on-site throughout the event. Please refer to Simultaneous Interpreting Equipment Hire for further information.
Case Study
London-based Atlas Translations supplied six simultaneous interpreters at a recent health care conference. The languages covered were English, French and German. All six simultaneous interpreters specialised in medical and health related interpreting, and worked efficiently and professionally throughout the session. For this particular conference, Atlas Translations also supplied the simultaneous interpreting equipment and an on-site technician.
