Available telephone interpreting service levels
- Telephone operators and interpreters available from 8.45am to 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding Banks holidays)
- Outside these hours by arrangement or on contract basis.
Telephone interpreters
The telephone interpreters must meet one of the following minimum standards:
- Holder of Diploma in Public Service Interpreting
- Member of the National Register of Public Service Interpreters
- Proven 1000 + hours of community interpreting work
In the event that no qualifications exist for a particularly unusual language, alternative evidence of telephone interpreting skills may be considered.

Case Study
London-based Atlas Translations has won a public sector contract from
a county council to provide 24/7 telephone interpreting. The
telephone interpreting service must be made available to all council
departments and their partners including the police service, schools,
universities, colleges and fire and rescue. We
currently cover over 100 languages on this telephone interpreting service
