Atlas Open Day 2013 – Part 2: Meeting Translators & Suppliers
Manager Anna Davies helped organise our recent Open Day and here’s what she had to say about the day itself:
Our ‘Summer Fayre’ themed Open Day on 4th July was a great success! It was great to meet so many of our suppliers and I really enjoyed the talks given by the speakers – we are very lucky to have a good network of people to help us make days like this such a success!
Personally, I was very encouraged to meet some of our new translators – it’s good to see that young people are still interested in this industry despite the difficulties in getting established in it – I hope the open day gave them some hope and inspiration!
Meanwhile, Shaun (Yang) Xu, our Chinese work placement, was settling in to the first week of his placement – here are his views:
It is very good for me to meet many translators at the open day. That is because, I, myself, am learning translation and have a strong desire to become a translator in the near future. I feel thankful that they share some experiences with me.
Also, I really appreciate what the whole team had done for this event. Being involved in such team work is quite crucial for me as I may do the same job in my future career, i.e. all the preparations to organise an event. By the way, the sandwiches and fruit, were very tasty and now I have started to miss the delicious food already!
