Atlas Translations’ 2021 Round Up

It’s been a busy and brilliant year here at Atlas Translations! From new initiatives to old favourites, 2021 has seen plenty of excitement. Here are some of our highlights from the past twelve months.

Atlas becomes a Mindful Employer

In March, we signed up with the Mindful Employer organisation to make a commitment to creating a supportive working culture. We wanted to recognise the importance of mental health, and help to end stigmas around mental health issues in the workplace.

As part of the Mindful Employer charter, we’ve pledged to be positive about mental health by continuing to provide support to staff, not discriminating against mental health in recruitment, and working to encourage a kind and understanding workplace environment.

Embracing the four-day Work Week

Putting the goals of the Mindful Employer charter into practice can mean finding a healthy work-life balance. Our four-day work week is one of the many ways we achieve this – we first introduced this way back in 2019, and it’s helped us to keep growing as a company and a team.

The four-day work week helped us transition smoothly to working from home during lockdowns, as well as improve efficiency, performance and job satisfaction. Returning to something a bit more normal after working remotely for the better part of a year can be a little bit daunting! Initiatives like the four-day work week and working from home one day a week have helped everyone to settle back into the swing of things at their own pace.

Welcoming a new member of the team

2021 saw Atlas welcome our first ever permanent marketing manager, as Charlie joined the team following an impressive interview (for a completely different role!). Since joining the team, Charlie’s helped us to break new ground with our marketing campaigns, such as our recent Client FAQ round-up in November.

Achieving Company of the Year

We were delighted to be granted Company of the Year by both the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) and the Association of Translation Companies (ATC) – the ATC award for the second year running!

The judges commented: “In its thirtieth year, Atlas Translations achieved an impressive 48% growth, adding new services such as remote interpreting and Covid Passport translation to their portfolio. The company is very strongly involved in pro-bono activity, and clearly care about a good work-life balance for their employees.”

Atlas’ Year in Review

It’s been an exciting year for us at Atlas Translations, with more languages and services than ever before. We worked in 78 different languages this year – from Bengali to Bulgarian, Turkish to Telugu, and everywhere in between.

Once again, English was our most popular language for translations, while we also saw plenty of interest in Romance languages such as Spanish, French and Italian. Our services also saw greater diversity than ever before, with translation and proofreading remaining our two most popular.

Saying hello to 2022

So there we have it – the end of a whirlwind year. From all of us at Atlas Translations, we wish you and your loved ones a restful holiday period. Whatever the next year has in store for us, there’s one thing that won’t change – the joy of communicating and connecting with the people around us, whether it takes place virtually or in person. We look forward to working with you in 2022!

If you have any queries, do get in touch and we’ll jump on your request as soon as we’re back on 4th January.
