Atlas Translations Launch St Albans Postboxes 2020 Fundraiser

This week Atlas Translations’ director Clare Suttie launched the St Albans Postboxes 2020 fundraiser. Clare was joined, at a safe distance, by the Mayor of the City and District of St Albans, Janet Smith, who officially kicked off the festive charity campaign.

St Albans Postboxes 2020 Fundraiser

Throughout December there are an incredible 50 postboxes to find on festive walks, runs and cycle rides. The fundraiser is collecting donations for St Albans & District Foodbank and Open Door St Albans with a target of £10,000. At the time of writing, the total is already at £6,180, 61% of the target after only 4 days, which is incredible!

The postbox toppers bring smiles to people across the local district and their generous donations are hugely appreciated by all the volunteers who work behind the scenes to create the crocheted creations, run the website and maps, as well as the social media channels.

Atlas Translations Postbox Topper Revealed

We can now reveal the Atlas Translations’ postbox topper for 2020! This year’s crocheted masterpiece can be found on Holywell Hill in St Albans city centre. Decorated with flags from around the world, the centrepiece of this year’s topper is a crocheted Royal Mail van parked next to a festive postbox. The team of creators behind-the-scenes is led by Candy Stuart. Every year the designs are more intricate and detailed.

The Christmas yarnbomb does cause some headaches and sadly one postbox topper has already been vandalised. However, the team always rise to the challenge and a new topper has already replaced the damaged topper. Fingers-crossed the postbox toppers remain unscathed for the rest of December.
