ITI Conference
A major event in the world of translation and interpreting in the UK is the ITI Conference. ITI is the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, and we have been a Corporate Member since 1994!
Focusing on the theme of ‘Professionalism – The Key to your Success’, the 2013 conference aims to offer professional translators and interpreters, members and non-members, a unique professional development platform in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The Institute of Translation & Interpreting was founded in 1986 as the only independent professional association of practising translators and interpreters in the United Kingdom. It is now one of the primary sources of information on these services to government, industry, the media and the general public.
With an aim of promoting the highest standards in the profession, ITI serves as a focal point for all those who understand the importance of translation and interpreting to the economy and community. This is important in light of the growth in global communications and changes in UK and EU legislation requiring that foreign nationals have access to help through an interpreter or translator. They offer guidance to those entering the profession and advice both to those who offer their language services and to their potential customers.
Director Clare Suttie is very much looking forward to the Conference (follow progress on Twitter with #ITIConf13 and on @iticonference). The organisers have been busy arranging every detail – from a packed three day agenda down to the food (the menus look rather amazing). We look forward to reporting back next week.
And if you are heading to the Conference, look out for Clare!
