Simplify Your Translation Journey: How Atlas Makes It Happen

Are you an individual trying to make sense of documents that are in another language? Or are you part of an organisation trying to expand into another market? Whichever team you’re on, translating documents can be a daunting task, filled with questions and uncertainties. At Atlas Translations, we’re here to simplify the process. From the moment you send us your files to the day you receive your completed translation, we’ll guide you every step of the way. Let’s explore how we make your translation journey smooth and efficient.

How Your Translation Project Works

Are you wondering what happens after you click ‘send’ on your translation quote request? We thought you might be, so we’re going to go on a quick step-by-step process walkthrough!

Getting Started

  • Sending Your Files
    • Once we provide a quote, we’ll need your documents for translation. The easiest way to send them is by email to team@atlas-translations.co.uk
    • For example, if you have a Microsoft Word document containing your documents to be translated, you can simply attach it to your email reply.
  • Speaking of Files
    • Editable files, like .docx or .pptx, are ideal and allow our translators to work more efficiently. And as a bonus, efficiency can naturally lead to faster turnaround times.
    • We can also work with PDFs and scanned documents; the cleaner and sharper the better (although we realise sometimes that isn’t possible).
  • Project Details
    • In addition to your files, we’ll need some extra information to finalize your quote. This includes:
      • Languages! Into or out of which languages do you need your document translated. Do you need one of our more popular languages, such as French or Polish? Or maybe you need translation from one language i.e. English, into several other languages.
      • When is your preferred deadline? Do you need the translation completed immediately, in a few days, or do you have more flexibility?
      • Do you have any special requests? Do you need the translated document formatted in a certain way? Or do you have a specific style guide we should follow? Is there a need for a hard copy as well as an electronic copy?

The Translation Process

Your Dedicated Team: Once you give us the go-ahead, you’ll be assigned a project manager who will oversee your project from start to finish. Your friendly, knowledgeable PM will be your point of contact for any questions or updates you may have.

Expert Matchmaking: No, not that sort of matchmaking 🤦. Our project managers don’t just assign translators at random. They carefully select the perfect translator for your project based on:

  • Language Expertise: The translator will be a native speaker of the target language, ensuring your translation reads fluently and naturally. For example, if you need your English brochure translated into French, we’ll assign a translator who is a native French speaker.
  • Subject Matter Knowledge: We understand that not all translators are created equal. We’ll match your project with a translator who has experience in your specific field. So, if you need a legal contract translated, we’ll assign a translator with experience in legal translation.
  • Technical Requirements: If your document contains special formatting or technical terminology, we’ll select a translator with the skills and experience to handle it. For example, if your document is a report full of medical verbiage, we’ll assign a translator with a background in medicine.

Quality Assurance: We take pride in delivering high-quality translations. That’s why most of our projects include a proofreading step by a second translator. This ensures your translation is not only accurate but also reads smoothly and error-free, meeting ISO quality standards.

Completion and Beyond

Final Touches: After translation and proofreading are complete, our team conducts a final quality check to ensure everything meets our standards. If you’ve requested any additional services, such as subtitling, voiceover, or typesetting, we’ll take care of those as well.

Delivery and Payment: Once everything is finalized, you’ll receive the completed project as an emailed attachment. Your original documents will be posted back to you (if applicable). You’ll also receive an invoice for the work, with payment due within 15 business days.
