It’s that time of year again! Still going strong for a fifth year running, our festive yarnbomb postbox topper campaign returns again. Our translation agency has teamed up with other businesses and individuals around St Albans to raise money for two charities doing fantastic work in the local community.

The Postbox Topper Campaign: A Slice of History

Atlas’ director Clare Suttie launched the yarnbomb campaign back in 2018, alongside managing her 27-year old translation agency. In the four years since, we’ve seen over 250 fantastic postbox toppers pop up around the streets of St Albans, raising an incredible £82,000 for charity.

The yarnbomb campaign is run entirely by volunteers, and has become a memorable part of the Christmas season in this corner of Hertfordshire. This year, the campaign will be raising money for two amazing charities doing essential work to help members of the local community.

Raising Money for Local Charities

The yarnbomb campaign will be raising funds for the St Albans Community Pantry, an organisation that works to provide food aid for around 3,000 members of the St Albans community. During a time of financial worry for many of us, the Community Pantry helps families to access the essentials they need, such as fresh food and toiletries.

We’re also raising money for St Albans Action for the Homeless, a volunteer-run organisation that sees local people come together to help our vulnerable homeless neighbours. They provide important support for people in need by working to secure shelter, food and other necessities alongside other local charities.

All Thanks to Postbox Topper Volunteers

Since its inception in 2018, the yarnbomb campaign has gained plenty of traction. Last year saw our most successful fundraising campaign to date, with over £30,000 raised for local organisations Youth Talk and the ADD-vance ADHD and Autism Trust.

This year, you’ll be able to spot hand-crafted postbox toppers in sixty locations around the wider St Albans area. The toppers are all created individually by the wonderful volunteers who make the campaign possible with their hard work and incredible knitting and crochet skills!
