Work with our translation agency!

** NOTE APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED – THANK YOU **We need a new Project Manager at Atlas Translations to help us grow further after a very busy and successful couple of years.

Last date to apply: 15 September 2023 12 noon UK time

Atlas Translations has demonstrated resilience and agility, resulting in some very successful years of trading since our launch in 1991. We have achieved this with hard work and strong relationships with our clients, freelancers and trusted, committed staff.

We are looking for a Project Manager for a full-time, permanent position. The job description is broad, flexible and up for discussion – to some extent, it can shift to match the person.

All the usual requirements you’d expect for project management-based work would be welcome of course:

  • Great communication skills – verbal and written – for working with linguists and clients across cultures
  • Positive attitude
  • Able to act quickly, juggle tasks, manage deadlines
  • Thrive in a busy environment
  • Organising and prioritising workload and time
  • Discretion and confidentiality
  • Able to work alone, in a team, remotely and in an office (that covers just about every option, then)!

The role includes liaising with linguists and clients, quality checking, document formatting. There is an opportunity for translation and proofreading work in-house and/or freelance if you have suitable experience, or we can provide training in this area.

Anything else we’d like?

  • Fluency in a second language
  • Methodical approach and eye for detail
  • The willingness to go the extra mile for our customers
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Common sense

Degree in languages, translation or similar subject would be preferred but is not essential. This is a full-time role.

We think that working at Atlas Translations is interesting, rewarding and enjoyable. You would be dealing with a variety of projects – written translations, interpreting assignments, voice-over recordings, subtitling, and more. Every client is different, no day is the same.

You will need to be based in/have the right to work in the UK. We are an equal opportunities employer.

What do we offer YOU?

We are a small but busy team working out of St Albans, Exeter, and Bath.

Childcare vouchers, NEST pension, bottomless tea and coffee at the office, paid holiday and bank holidays, four day working week (after 3 months probationary period) are standard. We do not require any overtime and believe in a good work/other life balance. There is a monthly bonus scheme based on office turnover. A second bonus is paid based on individual projects. Starting salary £24000 pa, depending on experience, plus bonuses (monthly, quarterly, annual).

2021/22 – average annual bonuses totalled £10113 per PM

2022/23 – average annual bonuses totalled £7746 per PM

2023/24 – already over £7500 per PM to month 5

FAQ

Can I work remotely? Yes, you can, but we’d like you to be based in the UK so that you can meet us for training and to meet up from time to time.

Can I work in an office? Yes, you can, if you are based near St Albans, Bath or Exeter.

Can I mix up my working pattern so I work from home some days, and from an office on other days? Yes, you can.

What experience do I need? We want to find a person who fits in with our team. You could be a new graduate. Perhaps you’re finishing your MA. Maybe you have some PM experience – or a lot of PM experience. We will consider any of these scenarios.

Can I apply if I live outside the UK? We have looked into this. It’s time-consuming and expensive for both parties to apply for a sponsorship license, and visa. To employ someone outside the UK, we need a sponsorship license which costs £536 and takes 8 weeks to be dealt with. Past that, the potential employee may need to apply for an ATAS certificate, which takes a further 2 to 3 weeks. There is then a fee to assign a certificate to the chosen applicant (£199) and an ongoing Immigration Skills Charge of £364 for the first year and £182 for each 6 months thereafter. We have taken the decision to only accept applications from those who are already allowed to work in the UK. Thank you for your understanding.
